These were made for my friend Art over at Arcade Idea for their ongoing series of articles about the video game canon. They also did the photography, which is of a construction site near them.
Back in university I did a lot of biological drawing of benthic and freshwater invertebrates, so this was a bit of a blast from the past to do. I’m happy with how they turned out though.
In the process of making these I made a bunch of variants, which I’ll include here.
Here’s a selection of some of the graphic design and poster pieces I’ve created up to 2021 for various projects and events. I’ve also included some databending and glitch art.
Aside from the Fistymuffs poster, these were produced on commission for local gigs and shows fairly short notice. Pre-pandemic I was very involved with the local riot-grrl punk scene, and post-lockdown I will be again.
Various posters for the online game Blaseball. These were made in 2020-2021 for various campaigns, and employ liberal use of dithering and garish reds, blues and yellows.Another Blaseball poster. Through a limited palette and heavy indexing disparate photographic elements can be blended together to make something jarring and eyecatching against Discord’s grey (or white!) background.Agitate Educate Operate poster. I modeled this myself, and used a dot-toning technique and gradient mapping for the characteristic red-and-blue colour in these works.
Made using databending techniques and gratuitous image editing, these pieces were mostly fire-and-forget experiments.
Boat: a piece I produced in 2018 as part of a Volleyball tournament with some friends. When viewed up close a startling collage reveals itself.Houston Spies Logo
Messy and deliberately at-odds with the artstyle of every other team, I made this logo during Blaseball’s season 2 for what was then one of the smallest teams. It’s used on the trading cards sold by Blaseball Cares, and is public domain.
Right now it’s a little bare bones while I collect the contacts for some folks, but I’d advise you all to check it out if you want to see some art and music by my cool friends!
You can find the page here. It’s also in the menu at the top of the page.
The blog section here will mostly contain posts about design work, what’s going on with me, and other kinda-professional stuff. It’ll all be reblogged onto my tumblr though, so that’s not becoming redundant or anything.
Anyway thank you folks for checking out my site. There’s not much here you can’t find anywhere else, yet, but soon there will be.
